Alton Towers resort, one of the country’s leading theme parks came to Perry Scenic with a challenge to design and build the staging area for their new theatrical performances that take place throughout the day. The set had to withstand all weathers for up to 5 years.
A giant pirate skull was sculpted firstly in polystyrene making the head appear to have been build with parts of a pirate ship, this was then fibre glassed to ensure its longevity outside in all weathers. The skull was positioned high above the stage, underneath was a specially designed costume change area. To maintain the pirate theme throughout, the stage deck was artistically treated to make the beautiful carpentry look weathered and worn and was covered in a special treatment to ensure the safety of the performers. More fibre glass structures adorned the sides of the stage with tiny hints of humour adding life to the build. The whole stage piece was a roaring success creating a wonderful performance area for the pirates to conjure up some mischief!
